Julie Ann McCosker Hayes passed away suddenly at the age of 57 after a year of courageously fighting cancer.
Julie grew up in Orinda, Calif., graduated from Santa Clara University and married her high school sweetheart. An aesthetician and massage therapist by trade, she dedicated her life to healing and helping others.
Julie had a thirst for life and love of trying new things that led her to tackle the world of ballroom dance in her late thirties. With elegance, strength and fierce determination, she became a national champion and represented the United States at the World Championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
Julie was a bright light that illuminated every room she entered and will be very dearly missed. She is survived by her parents David and Sharon, her brothers Brian and Kevin, her sister Kelly, her two beloved daughters Allie and Jenny, and granddaughters (Lyra and Jenny's soon-to-be daughter).
A funeral mass for Julie will be held at Santa Maria Catholic Church, 40 Santa Maria Way in Orinda on Friday, February 10 at 10:30am. Reception immediately following in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Women's Cancer Fund or Cancer Research Institute.
