Catherine A. Vanderliet, age 58, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2018, at Georges Pompidou European Hospital in Paris, France. Kate was born April 15, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Joseph and Louise Vanderliet. Kate grew up in Orinda, California and graduated from Miramonte High School in 1978 with the honor of being elected Homecoming Queen. During high school, Kate was awarded a scholarship to attend the San Francisco Ballet School. Kate earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 1982. Through Kate's love of dance and the performing arts, she was recruited and destined to the cabaret world performing in a variety of shows from A Chorus Line to Hello Hollywood, Hello! in Reno, Nevada. For her final tenure as a dancer, the Lido de Paris welcomed Kate as a principal dancer for Bravissimo in 1989 and then as the Vedette for C'est Magique from 1994-2003 where Kate truly was the étoile of the show. After Kate closed C'est Magique, she earned her pilates certificate and committed herself to teaching others about physical strength, balance, and alignment. Kate always lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, card writing, "Scooby - snacking," and spending time with those near and dear to her heart. Kate had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

Kate was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Hayes Vanderliet in 2002 and her brother, Peter James Vanderliet in 2016. Kate is survived by her father; Joseph Vanderliet; brother, John (Christine) Vanderliet; sisters, Elizabeth (Gary) Patterson and Sarah (Peter) Brown; plus three nieces and four nephews.

A family Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Saint Albert's Priory Chapel in Oakland, California on April 12, 2019. Kate's interment will be at St. Dominic's Cemetery in Benicia, California. A beautiful star has truly risen. May she rest in peace. Family and friends are invited to her Celebration of Life at the Orinda Country Club on April 14, 2019 at 1:00pm.

Kate was one of those classmates who had me in awe, so pretty, accomplished, and she truly cared.  I am so grateful I got to connect with her at the reunion.  So sad.
