Ingrid Mirner

I loved Ingrid. We were friendly in high school but didn’t really get to know each other until college at UC Berkeley. We found that we had much in common and decided to share a flat. That’s when I got to know the beautiful, insightful and interesting person she was. Her heart and mind were open to the world.  As a young child she lived in a Mexican border town before moving to Orinda. In high school she was an AFS student in Kenya. In Berkeley we hosted AFS kids coming from all over for short stays. Her perspective on the world was through a wide lense that embraced the diverse, beautiful and unfamiliar. She loved people; unconventional points of view shared at a table with good food and a glass of wine. Her generous laugh and smile welcomed the world. I loved her aesthetic sensibility that found beauty everywhere.  Life with Ingrid was rich. It was fitting that she met Dario, a grad student from Italy and eventually moved to Rome. We lost track of each other after she moved. I’m heartbroken to know that she has passed away.
